POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary role of the Payroll Specialist is to provide general payroll services for all VNI entities, ensure accurate and timely payroll data preparation and payroll payments processing, the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll and personal information, meticulous administration of benefit’s calculations and deductions, support of payroll services and client’s experience improvement.

The Payroll Specialist is a member of the accounting team for Vitalus Nutrition Inc. and provides support to other roles within the department as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Timely and accurately administer and process bi-weekly payroll.
• Process all staffing changes in the payroll system, including new hires, leaves, transfers, salary adjustments, terminations, or other changes.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, post payroll journal entries and accruals.
• Quarterly report for all departments and prepare audit working papers.
• Ensure compliance with the current ESA and VNI policies.
• Ensure timely benefit enrollment and manage the changes within the employee’s life cycle.
• Perform Year-End payroll.
• Verify data accuracy on the regular basis, including but not limited to annual data and systems audit and cross-evaluation with other systems.
• Assist with special projects, such as the implementation of new HR/Payroll software.
• Account receivables and other additional duties within the finance department as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or in process
• Minimum three years related experience in a similar role including previous use of payroll systems.
• Experience within the manufacturing industry is an asset.
• Capability to work in a team environment with varied departments and diverse personalities.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook, and spreadsheet/database (MS Excel).
• Knowledge of payroll compliance, provincial and federal employment legislation.
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
