About the role  

The Health and Safety Manager position will report to the Operations Manager. As a Safety Manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify any potential safety and occupational hazards. There are many opportunities for the incumbent to improve workplace conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. 

• Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures 
• Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines 
• Responsible for developing and delivering employee safety orientations, training programs, and ensuring all training is accurate and compliant with regulations;
• Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure practices, equipment, and work environment comply with all applicable regulations, laws, codes, and standards.
• Lead and manage compensation claims. 
• Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training 
• Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions 
• Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies 
• Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents 
• Handle worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident 
• Suggest solutions, improvements and prevention steps for safety issues 
• Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics 

What you’ll need 

• Proven experience as safety manager 
• Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines 
• Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies 
• Good knowledge of risk assessment 
• Excellent organizational and motivational skills 
• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability 
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities 
• Valid qualification in occupational health and safety 
• Work from office
